Founders' Trivia

How to play Founders' Trivia

Founders' Trivia is a free American history game in your web browser. There is nothing to download and no account to create.

1. Pick a founder

Choose George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, James Madison or the Founders' Assembly, which asks about the principles of liberty. Each founder greets you and asks questions about his own life.

2. Choose your level and timer

Easy questions suit beginners and younger players, standard questions cover the main events of each founder's life, and scholar questions dig deeper. Harder questions are worth more points. Pick a long timer if you want time to look up answers as you go; learning counts as much as winning.

3. Use your tools

Every answer, right or wrong, shows a short fact so you learn something either way.

4. Earn points and flags

Points you earn can be spent in the General Store on hints, skips and time. Your lifetime points also move you through the history of the American flag, from the 13-star flag of 1777 to the 50-star flag flown since 1960.

5. Story time

Listen to short stories told in each founder's voice, such as Washington crossing the Delaware or Franklin arriving in Philadelphia, then answer a few questions about what you heard.

6. Play with friends

Tap "Set your name" so friends can find you. Use Challenge friends to create a code everyone plays with the same questions, then compare scores. Share your recruit code and you each earn bonus points when a friend joins. The Leaderboard ranks players by lifetime points.
